What food does MTX provide on Excursions?
MTX provides snacks like energy bars and trail mix for everyone in the group.
Bring your own water bottle. We will have a water cooler in our vehicles with fresh cold water for you to refill your bottles between activities.
For excursions that include lunch, we typically assemble a box lunch with pre-packaged sandwiches or wraps from our local grocer. If you have any allergies or preferences we’re happy to plan accordingly.
How should I dress for my MTX Excursion?
For Winter Snowshoeing you’ll want to bring your own gloves, hat, snow boots, winter coat, etc. It’s always best to layer so that you can remove or add layers as you go.
For Summer wear typical light summer clothing, sturdy shoes or hiking boots, and bring a jacket. A hat and sunscreen are also a good idea.
What is the cancellation policy?
Full payment will be required at the time you book a Transport or Excursion. Payment is 100% refundable 24 hours prior to your pickup time.
What if the weather is not feasible to go into the mountains on the day of our scheduled excursion?
At MTX we don’t typically let weather stop us from heading out. We know the mountains well and know how to adjust for different conditions. Active weather in mountains can be a thing of beauty in and of itself. On rare occasion mountain weather conditions may be ominous enough that we’ll call off the day trip or be forced to end early. If this happens we’re understanding and will work out a fair refund for your group based on what we were, or weren’t, able to accomplish.
Is there a minimum/maximum age limit for Excursions?
On a seasonal excursion, very young kids may tire or get worn down before the trip is over. We recommend you bring children with a level of maturity who you anticipate can effectively maneuver in the outdoors. Also, make sure MTX is informed beforehand of any age related concerns or challenges.
We will need to know in advance if you have children who require special seating, or individuals with physical handicaps that need special assistance or equipment.
Do the MTX guides go on the hikes with us?
Yes, our guides hike and participate in activities with you, but we also don’t want to overcrowd you. We try to read your preference and comfort level. We bring along safety and first-aid equipment, orient you with maps, and if we ever split we send you with walkie talkies. Most groups are capable to navigate themselves once they’ve been briefed and shown the trail, so we’ll often let you lead.
Will there be other groups with us?
MTX Excursions are always completely private for your group. The cost you see when you make your reservation is the cost for one or more up to the allotted group size.
What type of person is this best suited for?
MTX Excursions are perfect for family groups, friend groups, co-worker groups, and anyone who wants get a taste of mountain activities and experiences. Our vision is to help the visitor get the most out of their time in the mountains. This is not a high adventure adrenaline pumping extreme day. It’s a broad view, at a comfortable pace, with insightful guidance and fun activities.
Are there bathrooms available on the Excursions?
Yes, there are typically restrooms within a reasonable distance from where we venture for our excursions. However, because of possible seasonal conditions, such as heavy snow fall or road closures we can’t guarantee that a bathroom will be easily accessible. We recommend you go right before we pick you up, plus we bring a few outdoor bathroom items and sanitary kits in cases of emergencies.
